Incorporation of Dissociative Identity Disorder Systems: Changing your Mindset

The Art of Musing: Moving Past Stabilization
One of my specializations over the years has been with clients who have Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). I have a passion for working in the world of DID. I have always seen this "alternate world" as a "normal reaction" to an overwhelming physical, mental, emotional or spiritual life event. In my book, Separated from the Light, I describe the formation of a DID reaction and how this alternate world is born and how the structure and language in this world is not literal rather it is symbolic. While working exclusively in an inpatient hospital setting I created Incorporation Therapy as a triage method to help stabilize DID systems and stop the chaotic cycle that these systems live in. Incorporation Therapy was not a cure but a stabilization aid; it was extremely successful for thousands of survivors who suffered this form of intense compartmentalization.
I have continued my DID work but with a whole new mindset of Life Coaching. A Life Coaching Philosophy has allowed me to look forward from where a person is rather than being restricted to look for a problem. My mission has been toward developing a more effective healing method in order to facilitate forward movement from a point of stabilization.
This concept of musing with DID systems has been very successful for many and the results have been quick and dramatic. Inspiration has always been more powerful than fear. Reaching your maximum potential in life is possible.
Go back to the idea that the whole structure of a DID world is symbolic world and then consider this; "that which is born out of pure creativity then only heals on the same path". I found a new door that opens to a path that gets past the whole fear, mistrust and separateness involved in a DID structure. That door is that of "musing". This idea goes back to the history of man in Greek and Roman times. The history of muses is embedded in the arts. As we all know artful expressions are inspirational and symbolic. Musing for DIDs in short is shifting the mindset of the system from one of being separate to collectiveness. If a system's function is no longer based on protection and fear then the function of the whole can be shifted to one of musing. In this theoretical mindset, musing is defined as s DID system being a source of inspiration to its self. The system is inspiring its self to view everyday as a blank canvas on which to create how it will interact with the world and muse against resistance. Musing helps to reduce stress throughout the whole system.

That sounds awesome! However, I was left hungry for more info. on this "musing" technique by the end of it. As I was reading, what came to mind was how I have individual characters in my head for some of my fragments. I don't have DID, but I think, as people, we all are multifaceted and have different aspects of ourselves inside. Some of us are more integrated than others, depending on life experiences and I guess that as a writer and artist, it's easy for me to breathe life into symbols. Even so, there's always different levels of Being in everyone and they all express each other in a very individual way.
I read this article and I thought of how, if I wanted to know what was going on inside my mind, heart and soul, and I was having some trouble figuring things out, I could use a creative system to listen to each fragment and let them draw, or come up with new ideas for present day, along with my present core. I can listen to them and see what they have to say, let them express how they feel and then meditate upon each answer, see what is held in common, what the message as a whole is. Sometimes it can come out in art, others in writing. I wonder, is this anything similar to what you speak of? Just curious! Love you and miss you Dr. Bill! Sincerely, Nati. ^__~!
